MFS TO HOST 100 LIBRARIANS AS PART OF AISL CONFERENCE

More than 100 attendees of the Association of Independent School Librarians (AISL) Conference will spend the morning of Wednesday, April 18, at Moorestown Friends School (MFS).  The conference is taking place April 18-20 in Philadelphia, and will culminate with dinner, lecture and book signing by Terry Gross of National Public Radio’s Fresh Air at the National Constitution Center on Friday, April 20.

At MFS, conference attendees will hear from Robert Lackie (9:30 – 11 a.m.) on “Powering Up Your Instruction: Teaching Methods and Facilitation Skills.”  Lackie is Associate Professor-Librarian at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. He co-leads the Library Instruction Program, and he serves as Reference Collection Development Librarian.  Attendees will also hear from Susan Danoff (11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.) on “The Golden Thread: Storytelling in Teaching and Learning.”  Danoff is the Founder and Executive Director of Storytelling Arts, Inc.  There will also be a tour of the MFS library.

During the three-day conference, librarians will participate in workshops on topics such as “Educational Blogging: Creating a Nurturing, Thriving, Publishing Environment in an Independent School,” "No pain, no gain: Collaborating with Classroom Teachers for Lower School Research," "The Future of Cellulose-Based Information Packaging and Distribution Devices (aka Books) in the Age of Google," and “Information Literacy and Web Evaluation: A Roundtable Discussion.”
