MFS News June 10, 2010 SEVENTY-TWO TO GRADUATE FROM MFS ON JUNE 12
Moorestown Friends School (MFS) will hold Commencement for the 72 members of the 2010 graduating class on Saturday June 12, at 7 p.m. at the school. Traditionally one male and one female student, along with a teacher, are selected to speak. This year, Commencement speakers will be faculty member and Merchantville resident Clark Thomson, Chair of the History Department, and seniors Gianya Breland (hometown: Burlington; will enroll at Wesleyan University) and Joseph Wittman (hometown: Haddonfield; will enroll at Villanova University). Commencement speakers are selected by members of the senior class. MFS does not compute class rankings or designate valedictorians/salutatorians. This year’s seniors will attend colleges and universities including: Amherst College, Brandeis University, Carnegie Mellon University, Case Western Reserve University, Columbia University, Duke University, Harvard University, Lehigh University, New York University, Oberlin College, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, Smith College, Wesleyan University and Yale University. The graduation ceremony is scheduled to be held outside, with seniors exiting from the front of the Upper School and processing around the MFS “Oval” to the group seating area. In case of inclement weather, Commencement will be held in the Field House.
