MODEL U.N. FARES WELL AT TCNJ COMPETITION

The Moorestown Friends Model United Nations team attended The College of New Jersey Model United Nations Conference in Plainsboro, New Jersey last weekend. Fifteen MFS student represented the nations of Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Venezuela, Guatemala, Egypt, Canada, France, Iran, and the United States in the two-day conference.

Eight students came away with awards, including sophomore Karan Hiremath,who represented Egypt. He was awarded "Outstanding Delegate" for his work on the reduction of stockpiled caches and nuclear weapons. Sophmore Doug Adair came away with his third award in as many conferences, also awarded "Outstanding Delegate" representing the United States on the UNICEF committee and the issue of HIV/AIDS.

Also representing the United States, Model U.N. senior Co-President Rob Rinaldi was awarded "Best Delegate" for work on the Israeli - Palestinian Conflict on the Security Council. Senior Co-President Jake Montgomery was awarded "Outstanding Delegate" for France also on the Security Council. Other students receiving awards at the conference included: George Bader (Venezuela) - Best Delegation, Lorenzo Gibson (Saudi Arabia) - Verbal Commendation, Taylor Hart-McGonigle (Venezuela) - Verbal Commendation, Hee-Jin Kim (Guatemala) - Honorable Mention. Also attending the conference were: Chuchu Anayo (Nigeria), Ethan Carilli (Canada), C.J. Cooper (U.S.), Sophia Depaulis (Iran), Taylor Horn (Iran), Danielle Magaziner (Iran) and Kyle Whittall (Canada).
