He graduated from Drexel University in 1961 and received a master’s degree in education from Temple in 1967. Jack was a scholar and educator whose greatest joy was working with young people. He moved to Louisville, KY in 1988 to join the faculty at Louisville Collegiate School as both high school instructor and college counselor and taught there until 1995. He was a member of the National Association for College Counselors and from 1994 to 1997, he served as president of the Kentucky College Counselors Association where he was instrumental in establishing scholarships for inner-city and rural students in the state. In recent years, he resided on his farm where he raised Angus cattle and participated in equestrian sports. In 2007, he travelled to Oyugis, Kenya to visit his church-sponsored orphanage. While there he installed a water purification system bringing, for the first time, fresh water to over 60 orphans. He is survived by his wife, Julie, his daughters, Jill Louise Geary Patterson ’86 and Jan Elizabeth Geary Michaelree ’87, and his sister. His former wife, Louise Geary, taught English at MFS.
