1940

David Marshall of Needham, MA died on April 22 at the age of 87. He was a retired executive for Aetna Life & Casualty Insurance Co. of Hartford. He was active in various community boards in Needham. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla, his children, J. Craig Marshall, Sandra L. Johnston and Joanna H. Doyle, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

1941

Helen Thacher Brown of Wayne, PA and Bay Head, NJ died on July 19, 2008. She is survived by her children Andy, Thacher, Marcy, and Sandy, their spouses, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her sister, Catherine Barnett, and many friends.

1944

Keith H. Turley of Hockessin, DE died on May 7 at the age of 82. After graduating from MFS, Keith served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked for the DuPont Corporation for 40 years. Keith was an active member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Millcreek Hundred, where he served as an usher and a member of the Woodworking Group and the Foyers Group. He also volunteered for the Emmanuel Dining Room and Meals on Wheels. Keith and his late wife, Nona, travelled extensively. He is survived by his sons, John and Paul, his daughters-in-law, one grandson and his sister, Brenda Turley Culbert ’52.

1945

George H. Croft II of Cherry Hill died on March 14 at the age of 81. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a 30-year employee of Smith-Austermuhl Co. in Camden. He is survived by his wife, Frances, four daughters, six grandchildren, his brother, John W. Croft ’43 and many nieces and nephews.

1948

Kendal Coles Stackhouse, who would have graduated from MFS in 1948, died on May 15 in Annapolis, MD at the age of 78. Mr. Stackhouse attended MFS and graduated from Bordentown Military Academy. After earning a B.A. in Economics from Michigan State University in 1954, he served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant. He then received an M.B.A. in Marketing from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1964. He worked as Senior Marketing Analyst and Sales Representative for several major corporations. Mr. Stackhouse also founded Kendal Services, Inc. which provided a mobile tire-shredding unit, the first in the country. Towards the end of his career, he was Assistant Manager of the Chalfonte Hotel in Cape May. Throughout his life, he was an active member of his community. He served on the Board of Camp Claire in Lyme, CT. He also served on the Town Council of Section Five of the Village of Chevy Chase, MD, including a term as Council Chair. He volunteered with Traveler’s Aid at Reagan National Airport and at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Annapolis. He is survived by his wife, Donna, his children, Kendal, John, Kathryn and Jeanette, seven grandchildren, his sister Patricia Stackhouse Lowrey ’46, and his brothers, Asa M. Stackhouse ’57 and Thomas W. Stackhouse ’60.

1953

Ann Biddle Hepburn of Chestnut Hill died on June 3 at the age of 73. She was born in Moorestown and attended Westfield Friends School, MFS and George School. She graduated from Brown University in 1957 and worked for Smith, Kline & French Laboratories. From 1974 through 1980, Ann was Associate Dean and Director of Placement for Rutgers University School of Law in Camden. After she left Rutgers, she founded Ann B. Moran Associates, a nationwide legal search and placement firm for law firms and legal departments for major corporations. She retired from the legal search business in the mid-1990s and worked part-time as a real estate agent until last spring. Ann was a consultant on fundraising and volunteer issues to a number of non-profit organizations, including Horizon House, the American Cancer Society, Catholic Social Services and the Cliveden National Trust House. She was also an active volunteer for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She set up the hospital’s first volunteer program and was chairwoman of the annual Daisy Day fundraising drive. She was a member of the Philadelphia Cricket Club, the Union League, Junior League of Philadelphia, Buck Hill Falls Golf Club and the Savoy Company. She is survived by her husband, Charles Hepburn, her sons, John Moran, Jr. and James Moran, her brothers, Charles Miller Biddle IV, David White Biddle and Richard Lippincott Biddle ’64, her stepmother and five stepchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles M. Biddle III ’28 and Patricia White Biddle.

Mary Jeanette Yuengling of Ocean Ridge, FL died on July 9 at the age of 73. After graduating from MFS, she attended Colby College and resided in Florida since 1994. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Frederick, her four children and seven grandchildren.

1973

Mark Barry Greenberg of Swarthmore died on April 16 at the age of 54. After graduating from MFS, Mark earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Wesley College and a bachelor’s degree in interior design from Drexel University. He received a master’s degree in social service from Bryn Mawr College. He is survived by his daughter, Abbey, his mother Billie, his partner Richard Congdon, his brother Marvin and his sister Shirley. He was predeceased by his father, Jacob.

1974

Mark Bisbing of Miami died on July 1 at the age of 53. After graduating from MFS, he received a B.A. from Swarthmore College. He then received a J.D. from Rutgers University and Master’s of Law from the University of Miami. Since 1982, Mark practiced law in Miami and specialized in the representation of inbound foreign individuals and entities. He was a trustee of the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and he served on the boards of the Miami Book Fair International, Business Volunteers for the Arts, the Foundation for Villa Vizcaya, Inc., the Miami Roads Neighborhood Civic Association and the Miami professional chamber choir, Seraphic Fire. In 2008, Mark was the keynote speaker at the MFS Cum Laude and World Languages Banquet. He is survived by his sister Lynne, his three nephews and many cousins. He is also survived by his long-time companion Francisco Saldarriaga and dear friend Suzy Brown Chenail ’74. He was predeceased by his parents.

1978

Nicholas Musulin of Marlton died on June 28 at the age of 48. He was a 1984 graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Since 2002, he was the president of Coward Environmental Services, Inc. in Mount Laurel. He was a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers and the founder and drummer of the band “Rare Breed.” He is survived by his wife Lynne, his children Julie, Kristin and Nicholas, his brothers Rade T. Musulin ’75 and Christopher R. Musulin ’80, his step-brother Charles “Chip” Coward ’76, his mother Elaine Coward and his step-father Charles W. Coward, Jr. He was predeceased by his father Dr. Nicholas R. Musulin and step-brother W. Mark Coward ’81.

1995

Jeffrey White, who would have graduated from MFS in 1995, died on June 29 in Newtown, MA at the age of 32. He left MFS in 1991. Born in South Africa, his early childhood was spent overseas before his family ultimately settled in New England. He graduated from Boston College and did graduate work at Boston University, where he earned a position at the university’s Washington Journalism Center. He reported as an intern from the Washington bureau of the Wall Street Journal and as a congressional correspondent for the Waterbury, MA Republican-American. From 2001 to 2005 Jeff was a staff reporter for the Patriot-Ledger in suburban Boston before moving to Prague as a foreign correspondent. He wrote for the Christian Science Monitor and other publications while also serving as news editor of the Prague Post, a position he held until 2007. His news reporting and essays have appeared in the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, American Lawyer, Legal Week, World Politics Review, Pop Matters, and the international edition of Der Spiegel. He also contributed reporting and essays to Gadling, AOL's travel blog. His work has been honored by the Inland Press Association and the New England Press Association. In the spring of 2008, he was a visiting professor of writing at the University of Montenegro. Jeff is survived by his wife, Nicole, his parents, his brothers and five nieces and nephews.

MFS Community

Wilson Kipp, father of Donna Kipp ’74, died on December 10, 2008, at his home in Moorestown. He attended Sewickley Academy, The Hill School and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He became owner of the P. Evanson Yacht Company in Riverside, where he sold sailboats and operated a marina. Mr. Kipp enjoyed fishing in the Caribbean, supporting the Philadelphia Orchestra, growing orchids and traveling, having recently visited Africa and the Galapagos Islands. He is survived by his two children, Donna and Charles, his friend and companion Sally Bullard, and his two cats.

Richard F. Mauro, father of Christopher Mauro ’04, of Mt. Laurel, died on April 24 at the age of 51. He was a Senior Investment Advisor in the Wealth Management Group of PNC Advisors of Moorestown. He was passionate about his work and was named to the 2008 Worth Magazine Top 250 Wealth Advisors. He loved baseball, coaching kids and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife Kathryn, his children, Christopher, Alexandra and Kelsey, and his siblings. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother.
